This Week’s “The Best of The Sarasota Post” – The Best Liquor Store

Today, everything is about the big box stores. There are liquor warehouses, liquor depots and franchise liquor stores where you get lost trying to find your favorite spirits! My “Best Of” Liquor Store is Hurricane Liquors on Anna Maria Island.

I personally like going to the small liquor stores around town and when I am visiting family in Brooklyn and Long Island, I look for liquor stores that sell small-batch spirits.

My absolute #1 best locally owned liquor store is Hurricane Liquors. Located on Anna Maria Island in Holmes Beach, they have it all. Owner Brian Mathae has done a fabulous job in stocking the shelves with a fabulous variety from the lower-end liquors to the top of the line.

I have been known to enjoy a Bourbon or 2 every so often. The selection of small batch bourbon at Hurricane Liquors is second to none. I have certainly tried a few different varieties that they have to offer.

Right next door to their sister restaurant, Hurricane Hanks, they also have a wonderful selection of wine and beer. When you’re in the area, check out the store. Can’t get to the store? Give them a call. They deliver in the local Anna Maria Island area.
