Sarasota, FL to Denver, CO – Oh, What Dining at ‘Sauce on the Blue’
Many of our readers of the Sarasota Post have asked us for more stories about our travels and what the locals are up to. I had the pleasure of traveling to Colorado with Laura Adams a few weeks ago to visit friends that I haven’t seen in over 25 years, Gail & Doug Lopez!
They took us everywhere. We dined at so many fabulous restaurants, visited downtown Denver and walked all over town. Great eateries, boutiques and oh, yeah… pot is legal and there are legitimate stores all over the city. We went up the gondola at Breckenridge Ski Resort which was absolutely awesome. We were guests at their home, and they were fabulous hosts!
One restaurant really made an impression on us!
We dined outside at “Sauce on the Blue” in Silverthorne, Colorado. Our friends knew the managers Tim & Deb Applegate quite well. Oh, what a dinner. For starters they had a fabulous Bourbon selection which really put a smile on my face. We had some wonderful appetizers and dinner was just so good! The homemade meatballs were delicious, along with the Calamari Friti and Sauteed Mussels, they were great starters. Laura and I shared the Spaghetti Margherita and it was delicious.
The staff were awesome and courteous, and they love what they do… they catered to our every need. During and after dinner I was able to get some great photos of the staff. If you are out west, this is the place to have dinner! Visit their website at sauceontheblue.com.
We were so impressed with the clean air and friendly folks that we met in Colorado. I must say that we really did well with the high altitude! Our friends made us drink lots of water and it really helped.
