Hundreds of paddlers from across the country are coming to NBP to compete in the American Canoe Association (ACA) Sprint Canoe National Championships. Come watch sprint and paracanoe athletes – including possible future Olympians – race head-to-head on a nine-lane course in narrow, high-speed canoes and kayaks. Come out to watch some amazing competitors in the beauty of Nathan Benderson Park.

Beck Lane’s commemorative Frida Kahlo exhibit has been extended through August 18th at the Unitarian Universalist Church’s Lexow Wing Gallery located at 3975 Fruitville Road. The public is invited this Sunday, July 16 to view the first installment of the portfolio and see Beck painting one of her 55 Frida Kahlo portraits live between the hours of 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
Mexican painter Frida Kahlo is considered by many to be an icon for her feminist beliefs, her authenticity, her political activism, her defying of gender stereotypes, and her courage and strength to not be limited by life’s challenges. During her short life, Frida painted 55 self-portraits. Artist Beck Lane has chosen to honor and celebrate this incredible woman by painting her own portraits of Freda Kahlo based upon photographs, documented histories, and written articles about the famous artist.
Hours: Sunday 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., Tuesday through Friday by appointment.
