Come experience Five Centuries of Florida History on Saturday, March 18th, at De Soto National Memorial from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 pm. Hear the roar of muskets and talk with period reenactors portraying Floridians from the past. There will fun and games for the whole family. Walk through time as you explore Florida’s great history. Poke around a Civil War encampment, or have coffee with GI’s from the sunshine state. Meet Spanish conquistadors, 19th Century artisans, and gulf coast Pirates. Travel through time in one day!

There will be a special time traveler’s passport where kids can earn the De Soto Junior Ranger badge! We also invite the kids to come out in their own costumes from their favorite time periods. Food trucks will feature Dee’z Diner and Kona Ice food, offering Hot Dogs, Burgers, Nachos, and Kona Ice Snow Cones.

De Soto National Memorial offers a free shuttle service by Siesta Trolley. Parking for the event and Trollies is at Martha B. King Middle School on 75th St NW. The Free trolley will run from 9:30 until 4:00 at regular intervals. There will be no parking at De Soto National Memorial for the day except for vehicles with a valid ADA tag. All traffic will be redirected to King Middle School.

Admission and all activities are free.

The Grill At 1951 is the Gem of Restaurants in Port Charlotte here on the Suncoast, also serving Punta Gorda and Charlotte County.
