Halloween on Central

Halloween on Central

Halloween on Central
Central Avenue, St. Petersburg

Halloween on Central is a wickedly fun, family-friendly, and FREE event that showcases our vision for what a car-free Central Avenue could look like for locals, businesses, and visitors to enjoy. In collaboration with the City of St. Petersburg, Grand Central District, EDGE District, and Open Streets St. Pete, Car-Free St. Pete is shutting down 22 blocks of Central Avenue, from MLK Jr. St to 31st Street, on October 31st, 2021. Attendees can stroll & roll along nearly 2 miles of the city’s largest open spaces and experience the heart of St. Pete from a unique perspective that will allow them to rediscover their favorite local businesses and interact with the community in fun, healthy ways. There will be fun Halloween-themed activities fit for the whole family, such as trick-or-treating, costume contests, entertainment, local business vendors, and more. Pets are welcome, too! Wearing face masks is highly encouraged.

Paddleboard on suncoast

Special Olympics Florida Stand-Up Paddleboard Championships

Special Olympics Florida Stand-Up Paddleboard Championships
5851 Nathan Benderson Circle, Sarasota, FL 34235

At Special Olympics, believe that sports can teach us all important lessons. When we train and strive for a goal, it teaches us to dream. When we struggle, it teaches us determination. When we win, we find joy. And if we lose, we can find the strength to try again. These sporting events bring together a large and inclusive community of athletes, supporters and families, coaches, volunteers, and many others. The athletes are at the center of it all. They become the heroes — to the shared joy of themselves, their families, and their communities.

Special Olympics training and competitions are empowering because our athletes prove to themselves what they can do. This inspires them to achieve even more, both in sports and in life. At each Special Olympics event, all of us can see and experience the purity of sports and real athletic success. Our athletes are pushing hard for goals some people can’t imagine, against obstacles few have had to face. Their drive to succeed comes from deep inside — it comes from the heart. See a wonderful championship in action at Nathan Benderson on November 5, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
