What’s On Suncoast? 1.20 – 1.27
The Suncoast Post asks, “What’s On, Suncoast?” Here are some ideas for the area this week from January 20 – 27, 2023!

Ashley Children’s Gasparilla
Ashley Children’s Gasparilla
140 University Town Center Dr. Sarasota, FL 34243
Bring your krewe to the Gasparilla Children’s Parade! This alcohol-free event is perfect for your little buccaneers to revel in the pirate spirit by shouting for treasures from over 100 parade floats. Make sure your krewe stays to witness the battle of the Ye Mystic Krewe and Tampa “pyrotechnic” explosions. The pirates win every year, argh!
Mateys of all ages jump and shout for beads as over 100 parade floats make their way down Tampa Bay’s Bayshore Boulevard. Since 1947, families, friends, and neighbors have brought their krewes out to take in Gasparilla’s Children’s Parade. The parade is all about elaborate floats, impeccably dressed krewes, booming marching bands, whirling dancers, and the familiar faces of schools and community organizations.
The parade takes place on Bayshore Blvd, beginning on Bay to Bay Blvd and ending at Edison Ave. Parking is available at the Fort Brooke Garage downtown. A free trolley will run from the Publix on Bayshore and Platt throughout the day. Shortly after the parade, a fireworks display will start towards the center of Bayshore Boulevard, where the Gasparilla Pirate Boat is stationed in the bay.

Ulele
Ulele
1810 North Highland Avenue Tampa, FL 33602
Ulele is a native-inspired restaurant and brewery using fresh fruits, vegetables, seafood, and other proteins from Florida when they are available. Open since August 2014, Ulele sits on the banks of the Hillsborough River next to the Ulele Spring. It is adjacent to the Water Works Park, which has been transformed into a family-friendly park thanks to our Tampa Mayor and City Council.
The rest use food harvested and raised in the United States, preferably from family-owned and independent companies. Organic food is not genetically modified and has no hormones or antibiotics. The wines we sell are from family-owned wineries in the United States and several private-label selections from family vintners in Spain (a nod to early Spanish explorers who came ashore in Tampa’s waters).
Ulele serves craft beers, available only at Ulele, made on-site at Ulele Spring Brewery by Brewmaster Tim Shackleton. Part of The Columbia Restaurant Group, the eatery and park have reenergized and built renewed pride in Tampa Heights. It is just four blocks from where my grandparents, mother, and brother lived on 7th and Central Avenue. It is 300 yards from where I was born St, Joseph’s Hospital.
Hours: Sunday through Thursday, 11 am – 10 pm; Friday/Saturday, 11 am – 11 pm.
