Gratitude is Happiness

| Sande Caplin |

As a child, I spent my Thanksgiving surrounded by an enormous family. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends all gathered to spend a day feasting on food and each others company. Football was played in the front yard while western movies were on one TV and a football game on the other. It was an abundance on so many levels. Days like this are tradition for many families still today.

On this day, I reflect back and smile with gratitude to have had those moments to share and cherish. As time passes, dynamics change and some are spending this holiday without their loved ones. Reflecting on this can make it hard to find the spirit of Thanksgiving and for some, it will be a sad day. The gift I want to share with you today is a nugget of wisdom – sadness cannot exist in the mind that has genuine gratitude.
