The Swordfish Grill & Tiki Bar hosts their 7th Annual Cortez Stone Crab & Music Festival, which will benefit the Manatee Chapter of Fishing for Freedom. This outdoor event is being held at 4628 119th Street West in Cortez Village on Saturday and Sunday, November 10th and 11th, from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM. Music will continue into the evening on stages at Swordfish Grill & Tiki Bar and The Cortez Kitchen. This festival gets larger each year. It originally began as a block party for the locals and the fishermen & crabbers. John Banyas, 4th generation fisherman and the owner of Cortez Bait & Seafood, Inc. wanted to give the fishermen a party to kick off stone crab season, which is immediately followed by Mullet season. Last year’s attendance was close to 20,000.
