We Celebrate the Life of Greg Poulos Today

| Suncoast Post Staff |

There will be a Celebration of Life for Greg Poulos today, Sunday, May 22 at Stottlemyer’s Smokehouse, 19 East Road, Sarasota from 12-8pm.  There will be 2 stages at the venue for as many musicians as possible to play.  Come early as this celebration will be a very special and there will be a huge turnout.

Cynthia Caroline,  the love of Greg’s life posted this on Facebook, and we felt compelled to share……………….

A lot has been said about Greg Poulos and his life and many stories of his life will be told and shared on Sunday.  These are some photos of the man at home and in real life.

He loved the country/island life. Greg loved nature and animals and was a true “old Florida” guy.

Greg absolutely loved living in Bokeelia on Pine Island. He was so proud to share pictures of the place he loved. He was so proud to join the Pine Island Moose Lodge and meet the locals. He was even going to try karaoke there. We would go on Monday’s and Tuesday’s for their dinner specials and just soak in the old timers who lived here.

When we first found this place or it found us, we drove up the long driveway and saw all the live oaks covered in moss, and Greg said, I’ve always wanted to live at the end of a long driveway, and I said, me too.

When we came upstairs with the realtor and owner and Greg sat in the rocking chair on the front porch, I took one look at him, so happy and relaxed and I knew we had to live here.

Greg just loved riding around in the golf cart on the five acres and doing his thing of manicuring the 110 oak trees, he counted every single one. He was so endearing.

He raced the resident gopher tortoise. He named the 2 kingfisher birds he saw regularly going on and off the island. One he called Kirby and the other Stubby. If he went somewhere without me, he would always call me and say he saw them on his drive.

He loved meeting new friends here and starting to play at places locally and in Ft Myers and Bonita Springs.

He wanted to start a band here and never leave.

Greg Poulos

This was where he was at home and his heart was.

A lot of people ask me if I’ll move back or am I alone.  I am surrounded by nature and all the things Greg and I shared and loved together.

It’s a peaceful place that I know Greg would want me to stay.
