Vicky Sullivan, Are You Kidding? No Way!
Go back about 2 years ago. I asked Vicky to meet me for lunch. I always enjoyed her photos and had an idea that would be mutually beneficial to both of us. One of the things that we discussed was that whenever she shoots photos there was always another photographer or two who would jockey for a better position to get a better photo, and sometimes they would be outright rude to her.
I asked Vicky if she would take photos of some of the events that we were involved with and promised her that if there were any other photographers shooting the event that everyone would work together and “play nice!” She took me up on the offer and did a couple of photoshoots.
The best story that I tell about Vicky took place last September, 2014. She called me up and said that she was applying to shoot photos at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade for the Sarasota Post. I said “are you crazy, are you kidding? No way that is going to happen!” Well, not only did she get a Press Pass to the parade, she was pretty close to being right in front of Macy’s!
Since the parade, Vicky has shot many shows and events for the Sarasota Post and is making quite the name for herself. Among the shows are Bradenton Blues Festival, Thunder By The Bay – Sarasota, Van Wezel Performing Arts – Sarasota, Live Nation Sunshine Festival – St. Pete, Jannus Live – St. Pete, Hard Rock Hotel – Orlando, Hard Rock Café – Orlando, Hard Rock Café – Tampa, Hard Rock Live – Hollywood, FL, Hard Rock Live – Orlando, Amalie Arena – Tampa, Ruth Eckerd Hall – Clearwater, Capitol Theatre- Clearwater, MGM Grand Arena – Las Vegas, The Fillmore – San Francisco, The Tropicana – Las Vegas, Atlanta Music Midtown Festival. She has also done a couple of “local” photo shoots that involved Twinkle, Billy Rice and Kara Nally, shot at the Swordfish Grill.
Vicky’s next project will be at the Rhythm and Rib Fest at McKechnie Field on October 9th taking photos for the Billy Rice Band. Keep up the great work, Vicky. You get better and better with each show! You’re a lucky lady to be able to shoot photos of the stars and future stars.
