Things to do in Sarasota/Bradenton in September

Is it just me or does the time after Labor Day just seem to drag on with rain and more rain? It seems like things to do in the Sarasota and Bradenton area doesn’t start revving up until mid-October or early November. If you are looking for fun things to do in the Sarasota area for September, here are a few ideas to get you through the rest of the month.

September 13th: Giving Back, Swordfish Grill, 4628 119th St West, Cortez. The Swordfish Grill & Tiki will host, along with sponsors The Sarasota Post and Sande Caplin & Associates the annual September fundraiser for local area charities. The fun starts at 6 PM. Enjoy live music, free appetizers (first hour) and a wonderful evening by the water. A few tickets are still available, call the Swordfish Grill at 941-798-2035

September 14th-16th: Bradenton Home Show, Sarasota Fairgrounds. Thinking about doing a few home improvements? You won’t want to miss this exhibition. See various vendors from kitchen cabinets, pools, to hot tub installation contractors.

Life's a Beach Triathlon is at Lido Beach Resort September 15, 2018September 15th: Life’s a Beach Triathlon, Lido Beach Resort. Before you say this one isn’t for me, think again. Yes, there will be some diehard fitness people participating but this is for fun! And there will be a nice cold beer waiting for you at the finish line. Family-friendly. The hardest part will be getting up early to participate. There’s a fun party afterward too. See more info and pictures on their Facebook Page

September 15th: Suncoast Jeep Festival, Nathan Benderson Park, 8 AM-5 PM. Jeep owners or lovers of Jeeps, this event is for you! Participate in obstacle courses with your Jeep and other Jeep activities. Food vendors, and drinks available. Pre-registration is $35 per vehicle.

September 15th: A Taste of Downtown Sarasota, 61 N. Pineapple Ave (Sarasota Opera House). This event is back and the local downtown restaurants will be ready to showcase their samples paired with wine and crafted beers. Proceeds benefit the Sarasota Youth Opera. Tickets are $75 pp.

September 20th: Jerry Seinfeld, Van Wezel. When the Seinfeld show was on TV, I used to schedule my college classes around the popular Thursday night show. For all you Seinfeld fans, Jerry is only here one night but is doing two shows. Make a night of it and have a pre-show dinner in the Grand Foyer.

September 22nd: Venice Beach Party, Venice Beach, Event is Free. 3 PM-8 PM. Enjoy live music, dance to the sunset and grab a cool drink. Summer is winding down, but the fun is just about to start. No coolers or pets. Food vendors & more.

September 22nd: Totally Tailgate, Michael’s East, 1212 East Ave, Sarasota. OK football fans, get ready for serious tailgating under one roof! Dress in your favorite team attire, hang out in the new beer garden with local craft beer and enjoy traditional tailgating food. There is nothing better than a cold beer and a grilled hot dog. Raffles, live music and lots of fun. Proceeds go to Girls Inc.!

Beer Garden Bizzare Night Market is at Motorworks Brewing on September 28, 2018September 28th: Beer Garden Bizzare Night Market, Motorworks Brewing, 1014 9th St West, Bradenton, This is a family and pet-friendly event. Come to relax under the large trees that shade the beer garden and meet local artists too. Over 20+ local artists will be showcasing their handmade crafts and artwork.

September 28th: Full Moon Ghost Tours, Spanish Point, 337 N. Tamiami Trail, Osprey. 8 PM-10 PM. Walk under the moonlight and hear the ghostly tales of the historic area the covers 30 acres of bayfront. See the prehistoric burial mound and pioneer cemetery. Learn the history of this Sarasota County area and walk through historic houses too. You never know what could be around the corner! You can make reservations by calling 941-966-5214.
