The Florida Suncoast Lost a Musician Way Too Soon

| Sande Caplin |

The news came as a surprise to everyone who knew him when it was announced last night the musician Zack Yoder passed away.  Only 31 years old he left us way too soon. Most of you know him from his band, the Zack Yoder Group, who played in many venues around the Florida Suncoast.

So much has been written about the loss of Zack and I felt that the best way to express everyone’s feelings is to share many of the comments about him from Facebook.

RJ Howson – Sometimes you get news you just don’t want to believe … Brother Zack Yoder was a true brother and good soul … gone way too soon … lots of good memories with him.
His childlike gifted spirit was infectious and refreshing and he will be missed by many. We had many guitar and music talks, and I thought of him fondly like a little brother.
The photo below was one he posted of a fun night at Aces in Bradenton of a big jam session with Berry Duane Oakley and many others. I think it might have been one of the many benefits we all had there together.
Zack … you were loved by many and will be sincerely missed. I imagine you are back in your mother’s loving arms again.
Gone way too soon …
God Bless You Brother

Berry Duane Oakley- I usually don’t post when I hear of someone’s passing because it’s not about us!!! But this one hurts for many reasons. Zack Yoder was a good kid, a bit Strange but that’s what made him so special, he was Zack no matter what and Zack was AWESOME. He was an amazing musician and could play just about anything and well with passion and soul at a young age. We shared many wonderful gigs and memories together throughout Sarasota and Siesta Key and traveling to NYC with Berry Oakley’s Indigenous Suspects also known as “Skylab” to play one of the last gigs at Bb kings in NYC, we also played Wanee a few times together. Many of you won’t know who Zack is but the best way I know to honor him is to go find his music and play, listen, and share it. I’m deeply hurt to lose such a wonderful human and musician at such a young age.

Zack, Shine on your crazy diamond you will always be with us

Stretch Man- It’s sad to see when anyone passes on who you know. It is especially sad to see a young person go way before their time.

I felt blessed to have been able to have Zack Yoder spend a little time with me playing music and sharing his incredible talent with all us at the many jams I’ve had with him. Zack, you were indeed a Very Special Guest for all of us.

Jayson Moss- So sad to hear about the passing of Zack Yoder. He was such a young, gifted talent, that I had the pleasure to share the stage with. Just weeks ago I performed with Zack and Tommy Balbo, and the first time was with Lei Stanhope at Lei’s studio prior to our show at Hart’s Landing. RIP Zack

Jeremy Egglefield- It’s really hard to believe Zack Yoder isn’t here anymore. He was way too young and had so much more to do. He is one of my favorite musicians in this town. I will always remember all the times I was lucky enough to play with him. Rest in Peace man.

Twinkle Yochim- You guys , I just found out that Zack Yoder died last night. I love him. What a gifted young man! This is really really sad. My heart goes out to everyone who loved him and his family. I’m so sorry. Dammit my heart hurts.

Mark Skey-This is how I will remember Mr. Zack Yoder.
My heartfelt condolences to his Family.
A truly gifted musician & an even more wonderful human being.
Tragic.

Sanura Love– RIP Zack Yoder. You were so talented, absolutely amazing, and so strong for all you have been through. You will be dearly missed brother 31 years young. July 6.

Joe Hendricks- Fare thee well and rest in peace Zack Yoder…You’re gone much too soon and much too young. Thanks for the great music…
