There is a new Festival in the area and this is one to check out for yourselves! Grassroots company, Synchronicity Festivals, is introducing their first annual festival to our area called “Southern Rock and Bar-B-Q” on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Masonic Park and Youth Camp, located on the border of Hillsborough and Manatee Counties on US Hwy 301.
The amazing line up for this debut event headlines a nationally acclaimed, local favorite, Chris Anderson and his newly formed band, Chris Anderson and RattleBone. Coming directly off completing his newly released CD, Chris Anderson (formerly of the Outlaws), Johnny Neel (formerly of the Allman Brothers), and Dennis Gulley (formerly of the Muscle Shoals Band) will be ready to show you what they’re made of. Earlier in the evening, Preacher Stone (out of North Carolina) and the Curt Towne Band (out of Jacksonville) will be taking the stage. Both of these bands are no stranger to the recent, popular Southern Rock Cruises and Rock Legends Cruises; with their popularity and music climbing the national charts. A man that needs no introduction in this area, Damon Fowler, will also be joining us for a set promoting his newly released CD ‘Whiskey Bayou Sessions’. A local festival would not be complete without a few local artists such as Jake Castro and Kettle of Fish. Jake has worked closely with Jeff Cook, of the band Alabama and Dana, along with Kettle of Fish is a local favorite who’s toured with several big-name musicians. We are also proud to introduce Whiskey Foxtrot to our community, fresh out of North Carolina and ready to make a mark in the music business. Believe me, it doesn’t end there! The Grand Finale artist jam at the end of the festival will bring in a couple of additional local musicians to create something that hasn’t been seen in years; a once in a lifetime opportunity. It’s not all about the music! What?! There’s more?! Although the concert is definitely the centerpiece of our festival, there is so much more that we are offering that ‘the other guys’ don’t have. There will be activities for children and families on a 200+ acre natural Florida park. Hay rides, boating, hiking, camping, learning programs and product demonstrations will be offered throughout the day. Arts and crafts vendors will be sprinkled throughout the festival, along with various food vendors. We are hosting a bar-b-q ‘cook off’ contest, where several masonic lodges will be competing with their culinary skills. YOU get to be the judge on who serves the best bar-b-q in the area. There is an indoor dining hall to sit down and enjoy a meal or two or just relax.
All this, and we are helping charities. We are committed to help bring awareness to the Masonic Park and Youth Camp by donating a generous portion of our ticket sales to them. Your attendance, and our donation, will help the Park with maintenance and added amenities which the public can enjoy. There will be a host of charities that we have teamed up with that will all benefit from your attendance such as the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Tampa, the Masonic Home (Senior Living Community) in St. Petersburg (a 501c3), and Seize the Moment Foundation, a nonprofit 501c3 organization that is designed to assist with financial burdens that epileptic patients endure.
The success of this festival lies in your hands. Together we can enjoy a ‘perfect time of year’ for a festival with amazing Southern Rock music, a day of fun for the family and help several charities at the same time; all right here in your ‘backyard’. Tickets can be purchased online at synchronicityfestivals.com. General Admission tickets are $37 ($50 cash at the gate day of show), VIP tickets are $100 (limited to 100 people) and Children 12 and under are free. Parking and primitive camping are included in the price of your ticket. We are looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones.
