Summer Camps Are Coming Here on the Suncoast

| Angela Naff |

Last summer, things were in the fairly early stages of quarantine caused by a pandemic. No camps for kids took place, and many were separated from friends, activities, and the like for extended periods. This summer, though, things are starting to get back to a semblance of normal. To that end, many educational, fun, and amazing summer camps are going to be taking place. This is by no means an exhaustive list but just some of the amazing options available here on the Suncoast.

Sarasota County Summer Camps

Nathan Benderson Park Camps – Nathan Benderson offers water adventure camps, ultimate camp experiences, archery, freshwater fishing, learning to sail, learning to row, and so many other options this summer. If you have a child that adores being outside, check out the many options available. These camps are geared at children ages 6-14 this summer in beautiful Nathan Benderson Park.

Sarasota County Camps – These camps offer Day Camps designed for children entering grades first through fifth and are offered at various area parks. Day Camps include weekly themes, multiple field trips a week, physical activity, creative arts, science and nature, safety and wellness, summer reading, and character-development activities. Or try their Specialty camps throughout the summer, or even Counselor-In-Training for the hand-selected group of high school students to help learn valuable skills.

Suncoast Science Center – Faulhaber Fab Lab Camps – These camps feature such science-related options as Chemistry, Engineering, and Robotics to fully engage the minds and imaginations of kids this summer – all while learning amazing science. If you haven’t checked out the Science centric amazing options year-round at the Fab Lab, it’s worth visiting the website to get a taste of their great offerings.

Manatee County Summer Camps

Summer Blast Camp – The Manatee County Parks and Natural Resources Department has this camp once again scheduled for 2021. They welcome children ages 5-13 to another exciting summer camp at one of their two locations. This year’s theme, “The Great Road Trip,” will have exciting activities each week, covering some of the best the US has to offer. Summer Blast Camp is dedicated to keeping kids active and offering exciting opportunities to learn, experience, and create lifelong memories.

Manatee Performing Arts Center – Do you have a budding performer in the family? Then Musical Theater camp could be an option. This camp will consist of an immersive two-week program of singing, dancing, acting, and technical design. There will be three performances of the show at the end of the second week.

YMCA Camps – They have reimagined all their camps for campers this year for children to explore, discover, and challenge themselves. Camps are progressive, so campers can continuously explore new adventures and responsibilities as they grow. Make new friends, stay active, and thriving with so much to do this summer at the YMCA.

Other Summer Camps to Try
