Sold-Out Charity Event at Swordfish Grill & Tiki in Cortez Raises Over $20K!!

| Sande Caplin |

Spectacular!  That is the only way I can describe the wonderful event that was held last night in Cortez, Florida at the Swordfish Grill & Tiki.  “Giving Back” was at the Swordfish for the 4th year in a row with all ticket and raffle sales going to “Hungers End”.

Hungers End is a nonprofit organization started by Vicki and Carl Snyder. They operate a food pantry and Blessing Closet in downtown Bradenton. They also serve a weekly meal every Monday night. To date they have served over 20,000 meals and distributed 100,000 lbs. of free food. Hungers End’s mission is to provide food, clothing and hygiene products to the homeless and those in need in our community.

When guests arrived, they received a complimentary drink and hors d’oeuvres and chatted with other folks about the great music coming from outside. Tanya Mccormick was singing with Rick Fass accompanying her on guitar. Then, they got up and looked at all the wonderful things being auctioned off in the Silent Auction! There were gift cards: Golf, Restaurants, Macy’s, Publix, McCurdy’s Comedy Theatre, a multitude of places and Gift Baskets filled with Gourmet items, Busch Gardens tickets, wine tasting event from Total Wine and more. Wow!

Girls Just Want to have fun at Giving BackSome chose to have dinner and were not disappointed! Swordfish Grill & Tiki has the freshest fish in town. And their crab! Yum! During dinner time everyone got to hear T.C. and the Troublemakers play outside. And when they wanted to, they danced on the dancefloor to the rock and roll rhythms!

Then came the fun of Bob Slicker – Auctioneer Extraordinaire! He spoke so fast and I’m not sure if people knew what hit them! His excitement about auctioning off the Private Sunset Cruise for 26 on the Eddy Lee Z was infectious! He had everyone trying to outbid their neighbors to win!

The evening closed with fabulous music by local legend Billy Rice and the Billy Rice Band.  The crowd loved Billy and were out there dancing and having so much fun.

The event was sponsored by Swordfish Grill & Tiki, The Sarasota Post and Sande Caplin & Associates. The music was sponsored by Visit A Paradise Realty.  A special thanks to Laura Bell Adams, Katrina Cox, Bob Slicker, Carl Snyder and Vicki Snyder who worked so hard to make this event such a huge success. This was the best ever Giving Back Event!!
