Shamrock Shiver Charity Event Raises Over $56,000
New Years Day’s was very special thanks to Clancy’s Irish Sports Pub in Bradenton, Florida. It was the 14th annual Shamrock Shiver Charity Plunge at Bradenton Beach.
There were 100 participants who raised money by pledging that they would run into the chilly waters of the Gulf of Mexico. 60 were signed up ahead of time to do the plunge. Danny Moore, MC at the beach, coordinated the costume contest. The winner of this year’s contest: Ruth Ann & Barry Hopkins. As they were Lady Liberty and Uncle Sam.
After the plunge, festivities started back at Clancy’s with Dana Rothgery as the MC holding the live auction. They raised $56,180.00 between their pledges, live auction, silent auction, raffles & a 50/50 drawing bringing the total raised to date to over 14 years to $362,284.00.
Just a few items that were donated: Offshore fishing trips, backwater fishing trip, Kenny Chesney tickets, several golf packages, Hall of famer Johnny Bench Authentic autographed Louisville Slugger Bat, Whitey Ford Authentic autographed New York Yankees Jersey, tickets to a Lightning game, tickets to Bucs week 18 game including a “registered” Super Bowl football with a stand from the Bradford Exchange, vacation package on beautiful Anna Maria Island, Granite from Planet Stone and various local restaurants graciously donating dinners for two.
This year’s charities
All proceeds including sponsorship benefits go to The Blessing Bags Project, F.E.L.T., (Feeding Empty Little Tummies) Healthy Teens Coalition, and N.I.M. (Nutrition Initiative of Manatee) were this year’s recipients. All 501(c)3 not-for-profit organizations dedicated to help disadvantaged children in Manatee County.

It’s was a great way to start out this tradition in the New Year. It’s all about supporting our community and giving back.
