Say Good-Bye to The Sarasota Post & Welcome The Suncoast Post!

It was 9 years ago in the month of January 2011 that The Sarasota Post shared their first story. It all started at Bruce Famiglio’s The Flying Dog Café in Sarasota where James Newton and Sande Caplin were discussing starting an on-line publication. James said, “I acquired the URL and will write a story every week.”

Well, James wrote one of the very first stories back in 2011 and never wrote another story again! James is always so busy that he did not have the time to write! Over the years, there have been thousands of stories on “The Post” about local businesses, celebrities, restaurants, musicians and everyday folks. It has become the “go-to” site to find out cool stuff about our town.

After much thinking, planning and requests from our readers, a big change has started. The Sarasota Post, as of January 1, 2020, is now “The Suncoast Post”. The opportunity is huge. Now stories can be shared from the Tampa Bay area all the way down to Naples and of course all over the world!

From Wikipedia- Florida Suncoast is the name for the west-central and southwest Florida coast between Tarpon Springs and Naples including the Tampa Bay Area. This region is sometimes also referred to as the Sun Coast. The area includes the well-known cities at the coast like Saint Petersburg, Clearwater, Largo, Tampa, Bradenton, Sarasota, Punta Gorda, Englewood, Cape Coral, Fort Myers Beach, Venice and Naples.

The change-over will be gradual. A new website is now under construction and will take about 3 months to complete. There is so much information to be moved! Facebook, Google News, Twitter and Instagram have to be updated to The Suncoast Post and more.

It’s an exciting time for our team. We welcome your input and most important we welcome your stories about…. your business, your neighborhood, your music, your restaurant and anything that has to do with the Florida Suncoast!

Happy New Year from the team at The Suncoast Post!
