👖 “We’ve Got Short Shorts”
Oct. 10 & 12 at 1:30 p.m. | Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets: $24

This witty double feature showcases the work of playwright Bruce J. Bloom:
- “Daniel Ortega and the Yom Kippur Blues”
Directed by Diane Cepeda
On Yom Kippur, Arthur Kleinman (Leonard Rubinstein) finds himself in a spiritual crisis. A chance encounter at a Latino saloon leads him to bartender Luis (Gabe Ortiz), who offers him a mysterious potion. When Reesy (Yinoelle Colon), a streetwise yet soulful woman, enters the scene—things get hilariously complicated. - “The Last Request of Eddie Carmichael/Cohen”
Directed by and starring Steve Black
Eddie Carmichael (Steve Black) makes a startling deathbed confession: he’s actually Jewish and his real name is Eddie Cohen. He begs a rabbi (James Kassees) to marry him to Esther Goldman (Alice Cotman), while Sister Veronica (Lynne Doyle) insists he’s delusional. Is Eddie telling the truth, or is it his final wild story?
🦋 “I Never Saw Another Butterfly”
Oct. 17 at 3:00 p.m. | Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m. | Oct. 19 at 1:30 p.m.
Tickets: $29 | Free for middle/high school students with adult
Directed by Sharon Ohrenstein, this poignant one-hour play tells the story of the 15,000 children imprisoned at Terezin, a Nazi concentration camp during World War II—of whom only 150 survived.
At the heart of the story is Irena (Lynne Doyle), a devoted teacher who inspires children like Raja (Nyla Chambless) and Honza (Declan Moyer) to express their hopes, fears, and dreams through writing and art. The play is based on the book of poems and drawings created by the real children of Terezin and stands as a touching testament to courage, humanity, and the resilience of the human spirit.
Presented in partnership with the Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee.
