Sarasota County Holiday Closures and Adjusted Services for Thanksgiving

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, most Sarasota County Government offices and services will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29. Here’s what you need to know about changes to public services during the holiday week:

Breeze Transit Schedule

Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 28):

  • Breeze administration and ticket offices: Closed.
  • Standard Breeze routes and Breeze Plus: No service.
  • 76 Flyer: Operating regular service.
  • 77 Siesta Islander: Ending service at 8 p.m.
  • Breeze OnDemand: Operating with modified hours, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Day After Thanksgiving (Nov. 29):

  • Breeze administration and ticket offices: Closed.
  • All Breeze services (standard, touring routes, OnDemand, and Plus): Operating regular service.

Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources

  • All recreation facilities: Closed.
  • Knight Trail Park:
    • Closed Monday, Nov. 25, through Thursday, Nov. 28.
    • Resuming operations on Friday, Nov. 29.

Solid Waste Collections

Collection Schedule:

  • Monday-Wednesday, Nov. 25-27: No changes.
  • Thursday, Nov. 28: No collection services.
  • Friday, Nov. 29: Collection for Thursday customers.
  • Saturday, Nov. 30: Collection for Friday customers.

Solid Waste Facilities:

  • Closed on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 28), including the Central County Landfill, Citizens’ Convenience Center, and Chemical Collection Centers.
  • Central County Landfill and Citizens’ Convenience Center will reopen on Saturday, Nov. 30, with extended hours until 5 p.m. (C&D area closes at 2 p.m.; hand unloads must arrive 30 minutes before closing).

Additional Closures

Closed on Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29:

  • Libraries and the Historical Resources Center.
  • Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County (also closed on Wednesday, Nov. 27).
  • Sarasota County UF/IFAS Extension and Sustainability.
  • Sarasota County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller (services available online at Sarasota Clerk).
  • Sarasota County Property Appraiser (services available at SC-PA).
  • Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Office.
  • All Sarasota County Tax Collector locations.
