Sadly, We Lost a Truly Nice Guy, Rick Alley
Rick Alley, one of the truly nice guys in our town passed away a few days ago. Rick loved everyone and always had a great story to tell. He always had a smile on his face. One of his favorite places to hang out was the Tarpon Bay Grill & Tiki Bar in Sarasota. Back in the day, you would always see him at the famous Flying Dog Café.
From Rick’s stepdaughter on Facebook-
We are heartbroken to post that Rick passed away peacefully early this morning, September 6th. He bravely fought a short battle with advanced cancer and chose to remain mostly private about it as many of you did not even know of his illness. We, as his family, chose to honor those wishes until the end.
After my last post here, hundreds of you reached out with texts, calls and posts sending your love and prayers to Rick. We read EVERY one of them to him and he knew he was loved by so many…. We thank you all for that.

For those asking about his beloved dog, Bo… Bo has a loving forever home with Rick’s friends, Joel and Dwayne. This makes us so happy as Rick loved that sweet pup so very much!
Per Rick’s wishes, he will be cremated and his remains will be placed back in his hometown of Spartanburg, SC with his parents. We will be doing some kind of a memorial in the months to come and will share details on his FB page.
For now, we are comforted that he is no longer suffering and is reunited with his parents and longtime love/my mom, Kathy. Rick’s family thanks all of you for loving him like we did and know that you all meant the world to him.
