Memorial Day 2026 on the Suncoast: Sarasota Parade, Office Closures, Traffic Alerts and What Residents Need to Know
Memorial Day is more than the unofficial start of summer on Florida’s Suncoast. It is a solemn day dedicated to honoring the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who gave their lives in service to our country. Across Sarasota and Manatee counties, residents will gather for ceremonies, parades, family events, and moments of reflection as communities pay tribute to America’s fallen heroes.
This year, Sarasota County Government and the City of Sarasota are reminding residents and visitors that there will be office closures, traffic changes, parade activity, and modified services throughout the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 25, 2026.
Downtown Sarasota Memorial Day Parade Returns

The Suncoast Post has also shared reflections on Memorial Day on the Suncoast and the meaning of the holiday for local families.
Whether attending the downtown Sarasota parade, visiting a local veterans memorial, enjoying the beaches, or spending time at one of the many waterfront restaurants across the Suncoast, Memorial Day remains one of the most meaningful holidays of the year.
