It’s a Perfect Day to Visit “The Fence” at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota

We are blessed here on the Florida Suncoast to have a very special photo exhibition at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota. “The Fence” is a large-scale traveling exhibition that draws more than 8 million visitors each year through open-air exhibitions in nine cities — in 2018, host cities also included Boston, Atlanta, Denver, Brooklyn, Calgary, Houston, Seattle, Los Angeles and Sarasota.

I had the opportunity to visit yesterday and it was a tremendous experience. The photos and stories that are attached are eye-opening. The New Year’s week is an excellent time to bring friends and family to visit. I had the opportunity to talk with visitors from the New York City, California and the UK! They all thought that it was spectacular.

From the Sarasota Post Story By Vicky Sullivan on November 3, 2018: Brought to the SRQ by popular local resident and event producer Barbara Strauss, “The Fence” is a feast for the eyes of art lovers, photographers and everyone to enjoy. Ms. Strauss first heard about it when a friend of hers told her about seeing it at the Brooklyn Bridge Park in New York. She thought it would be a great addition to Sarasota and decided to see if they would be willing to bring the display to a small city. She worked hard to bring it to Sarasota. Her idea became reality and now “The Fence” is here for several years. Each year, the photographs will change as new winners will be chosen by the “Jury”.

Some exciting news: Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work for consideration by the jury of photography professionals from around the globe. The submitted work should fit one or more of seven thematic categories: Home, Streets, People, Creatures, Nature, Play, and Food.

The Gulf Coast Photographers Showcase will be added to The Fence Sarasota 2019, including photographers from Tampa Bay to Naples.

Submissions dates for both the main and regional exhibits will be announced soon in a Press Release.
