Hurricane Helene Restaurant Updates from Sarasota, Bradenton, AMI, & Cortez- They Need Our Love…

| Suncoast Post Staff |

The following are some posts from Facebook from great folks in Sarasota, AMI, Cortez & Bradenton, Florida as of 4pm 9/27/2024.  We need to support & love all of the local merchants.

Swordfish Grill & Tiki / Cortez Kitchen / Florida Fishing Fleet

Our hearts are heavy as we take in the catastrophic effects of Hurricane Helene on our beloved Cortez and Anna Maria Island. The storm surge was devastating, and many in our community have lost their homes and everything in them. Our thoughts, prayers, and good vibes are with everyone affected by this unimaginable destruction. There is no power and little to no cell service in Cortez.

We are incredibly fortunate that Swordfish Grill is still standing with only minor damage. However, as we begin the process of assessing the full impact, we ask for your patience as we gather a reopening plan.

This community is strong, and we will rebuild together. Please stay safe, and we will be in touch soon with more updates.  Swordfish Website    Cortez Kitchen Website  Florida Fishing Fleet Website

Tide Tables Restaurant & Marina

Our little Village of Cortez has devastating damage. Many friends homes and cars are destroyed, and our hearts are heavy!

Tide Tables took a beating for sure! We don’t have power or water, but we still have 4 walls and a roof and are beyond grateful for this!

We will rebuild and we will reopen!

Thank YOU to everyone who has sent texts, left messages and stopped by…my cell service is not working here so I can’t respond. We already have an army with here cleaning up piles debris that we have no idea where it even came from!! Thanks to Matt McKinnon with Coastal Excavation and Sitework who had a crew here in no time at all with dumpsters and bobcats to clear a path to even get to Tide Tables and then to help with piles and piles of sheets metal and debris and then delivered Pub subs and Shake Pit Burgers!!!

And yes, to answer everyone’s question…we have one of the huge derelict sailboats actually IN our storage building!

I’ll post photos when I can. You won’t even believe what you are seeing!

We love you and appreciate all the concerns!! I’ll update as we progress.
