How Tim Mitten Took Over Sarasota Nightlife
If you are involved in Sarasota nightlife, then chances are you have heard of Tim Mitten. He is the owner of Full Moon Promotions, a business development and consulting company known for hosting lavish parties around town. Anyone who goes to a Tim Mitten event knows to expect the royal treatment, as well as a crowd of people. Tim’s company is only five years old, but he has somehow managed to take over the Sarasota scene for the party elite.
NOTE: This article was wriitne in May of 2015. Since then, Tim has added the Real Estate business to his resume!
I met with Tim in our office on a Friday morning. He is charming, charismatic and very passionate about his business. Tim’s journey into this line of work is an interesting one. His career started out in upstate New York working for HSBC Bank straight out of college. After two years in its Data Center, Tim saw an ad for an engineering position with New York Telephone. He was one of eight hired from a pool of five hundred applicants. As a Program Manager, he worked remotely and eventually moved to Florida. Tim worked for the company for over eighteen years. His transition into his current line of work was actually quite simple. Ten years ago when he moved to Sarasota, his reaction to the nightlife was rather underwhelming. Being the self-starting man that he is, Tim saw a chance not only for a thriving business, but also for an opportunity to create the kind of nightlife that Sarasota deserves.
Full Moon Promotions has ascended the social ladder over the last few years. Mainly based on pro bono clients in the beginning, Tim now has the reputation and results to be able to pick and choose his clientele. When a venue engages his services, it is not only getting a party with a built-in guest list of avid Tim Mitten followers, but also Tim’s consulting expertise. He begins his process weeks in advance of the event in order to provide his clients a three to four page outline describing in-depth how he can increase their business. Tim is devoted to giving each partygoer a full service experience minute by minute throughout the event.
This year we can look forward to another huge party for New Year’s Eve. Tim is already trying to one-up his very successful first go around. SRQ NYE, held at The Municipal Auditorium, had over 600 people in attendance, but Tim is looking to make this year bigger and better. For now, you can check out one of Tim’s events tomorrow night at the Surf Shack’s Terrace Piano Bar and Lounge on St. Armands from 8:30pm to 12am. You can also join SRQ Nightlife on Facebook, (run by Tim) which provides its 5,500 members with the latest on upcoming events around town.
