Detwiler’s Farm Market Expanding Again Here on the Suncoast
Since 2002 Detwiler’s Farm Market has been operating their family-owned brand of fresh food markets. The entire family prides itself on a hometown-feeling store with fresh produce, deli, and bakery goods that cater to a wide range of tastes at a reasonable price to the consumer. This family-owned grocer was started as a roadside produce stand with humble beginnings here on the Suncoast. Early on, Henry and Natalie Detwiler lived in Myakka City with nine children in a mobile home. When Henry and Natalie Detwiler ran a produce stand at Fruitville Grove in Sarasota, their kids helped after school and on weekends. Today, the family is expanding again with exciting news for Manatee County as they intend to launch their second store in that area.
The second Manatee County location and the sixth store on the Suncoast are planned to open in the fall of 2023. The new location will be a 50,000-square-foot anchor space in the 3,500 block of 53rd Avenue, anchoring the Marketplace West shopping center. While they have expanded past the roadside stand of their humble beginnings to brick-and-mortar stores, the goal remains constant to bring the freshest options to your shopping experience every day. They strive to create unique, fun, and engaging environments for all ages that frequent their stores, as customers shop the wide selections of fresh options in all departments.
The company boasts over 450 employees and retail spaces of 5-50,000 foot stores in a host of Suncoast towns. Today, Henry and Natalie remain involved in the store’s operation, with their children holding various roles. The entire family remains customer service oriented and strives to keep prices competitive for all their customers. While their buying power has changed over the years, they still do their best to pass freshness and savings to each person that walks through the door. Manatee County will surely benefit from this family grocer coming to its community as the company continues to bring its values to another area of the Suncoast.
