Cortez Lost a Great Friend, Nancy Franklin

Cortez Lost a Great Friend, Nancy Franklin

| Sande Caplin |

It’s a sad time around the Village of Cortez.  Our dear friend, Nancy Franklin passed away.  Many of you know Nancy from her days at Jo-To Japanese Steakhouse, Primo-Ristorante, O’Hara’s, Grego’s Almost to the Beach Tavern, Annie’s Bait & Tackle and more recently as one of the managers at the Swordfish Grill and Tiki and the Flippin’ Mullet Sports Bar.  Nancy and her husband Brian have lived in Cortez for many years.

Nancy was one of the funniest and coolest ladies!  Every time I would walk into the Swordfish she would greet me with a huge smile and “Hi Mr. Caplin!”…… never Sande, always Mr. Caplin.  It was just her thing.  Nancy had so much fun bartending and always made everyone feel so comfortable.

She was so happy organizing bus trips to the Lightning games for the Flippin Mullet Sports Bar.  And, oh boy they were some bus trips.  Nancy, was always the first to volunteer to help at charity events and did so much to help with Hurricane Irma relief projects.

From Bob Slicker, GM of the Swordfish Grill-  The best of friends! Friends that are not only always there for you, but believe in you so much that they will leave their careers and come work with you, one of the main reasons for my success, thank you!

Nancy was taken away from us way too soon.  We are all going to miss her so much.  Condolences to her husband Brian, a really great guy, and her mom, Sharon.

A Celebration of Life for Nancy will be held Sunday, April, 22 from 4-8pm at the Flippin’ Mullet Sports Bar (inside the Swordfish Grill & Tiki) 4628 119th St., Cortez, FL. 34215.  Nancy was a huge “Lightning” fan.  Please honor Nancy by wearing Lightning attire.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy’s honor can be made to the Blessing Bags Project. www.theblessingbagsproject.org
