No one throws a better party than the wonderful Tribe of Cortez, Florida. Saturday was no different. It was the wedding of Heidi Benson Johnston and Johnny Banyas, better known as “Johnny B”.
Oh, oh, oh! This was an extra special weekend. The event was held on Jew Fish Key , a gem in our town. It was months and months in preparation. The island had lots of storm damage from Hurricane “IRMA” and needed a lot of clean-up. John and his crew spent several months cleaning and fixing. Our team at Sande Caplin and Associates had the honor of filming the weekend. 4 photographers, 1 videographer and a licensed drone pilot captured it all. I heard that there are over 2,500 photos to go through!
Heidi organized the entire “spectacular” with help from friends and family. She did not miss a detail. Chairs, tables, food and drink, table cloths, and more more more. Everything had to come over by boat. Friday, there was rehearsal on the island followed by a fabulous dinner at Harry’s Continental Kitchen on Long Boat Key.
And, then the extravaganza. Everyone had to come by boat to attend. Over 300 guests arrived by boats of all shape and sizes from the South Boat Ramp at Coquina Beach. All the food and drink, cooking utensils and more came by boat from the Swordfish Grill and Tiki.
The ceremony was breathtaking. Tears were flowing when Heidi and John exchanged vows. Everything was perfect. After the ceremony everyone went into the party and oh what a party complete with a specially built dance floor by John and the crew, great live music, absolutely awesome food and of course great friends and family.
It was a night that I will never forget. Thank you, John and Heidi, for asking our team to be a part of your wonderful day. You two are very special in our hearts and of course to everyone in Cortez.
