Betty Fox and Ari McMannus- Truly Valentine’s Day Originals
Every so often something special takes place in our local music scene. Last night was one of those times. When I heard that Ari and the Alibis and the Betty Fox Band were performing together at Skipper’s Smokehouse in Tampa I knew it was the place to be. My special Valentine, “Laura” and I got into the car and headed to Tampa last night. Before the show, we stopped at a very cool old fashioned 24 hour diner, “Three Coins.” They had fabulous homemade food….Beef Stew, Meatloaf…..the kind of comfort food you need on a very cold night.
Skipper’s is such a cool place. We walked in and were immediately greeted by Betty Fox with a big hug and she was as cordial as ever. She was so happy to see us. Ari and the Boys opened the show and were fantastic doing original after original song. The highlight for me was when Ari jumped on to the dance floor and was swinging my old body around! Wow! Betty joined Ari and the boys on stage and it brought tears to my eyes watching them sing together.
After a short break, Betty Fox and her band played their hearts out with their great original songs that were awesome. Betty has that cool mystique and when she smiles at you while singing…..it melts your heart.
We could not stay for the Betty Fox and Ari Mannus jam at the end of the night, but I am sure it was fabulous.
Thank you Betty Fox, Ari McMannus and to all of the “boys in the bands.” You made Valentine’s Day eve a night to remember.
