Anna Maria Island’s 60th Annual Easter Sunrise Service: A Beloved Island Tradition Returns April 20th
The Kiwanis Club of Anna Maria Island will proudly host its 60th Annual Easter Sunrise Service on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at 6:30 a.m. at the Manatee County Public Beach, located at 4000 Gulf Drive in Holmes Beach.
Despite the challenges of the past year—including a tropical storm and two hurricanes—the spirit of the island community remains strong. This special anniversary of the Kiwanis Easter Sunrise Service is a testament to that resilience. Each year, 1,200 to 2,000 people gather for this cherished tradition, making it one of the most meaningful events of the season.
There is ample parking available, and the Island Trolley will begin running at 6:00 a.m. for early arrivals. For those needing a warm-up before the service, the Anna Maria Island Beach Café will also open at 6:30 a.m. Coffee, pastries, and breakfast favorites will be available. Guests are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket and dress appropriately for the weather.
The sunrise service is a beautiful collaboration of island churches, offering a spiritually uplifting start to Easter Sunday. This year’s program includes:
- Rev. Father Phillip Schweda of St. Bernard’s Church delivering the sermon
- Belinda Strickland of the Episcopal Church of the Annunciation offering the invocation
- Dirk Rodgers of Roser Church leading the offertory and benediction
- Rev. Stephen King of Harvey Memorial presenting scripture readings
- Inspirational Easter music led by Morgan Bryant, with all attendees invited to sing along
The entire community and visitors alike are welcome to join this beloved island tradition as we gather to celebrate hope, renewal, and unity under the rising sun.
