After 36 Years, Primo Ristorante in Sarasota says “Goodbye”
From Primo Chef/Owner, Maurizio Colluci – To all our Friends, Guests, and Amazing Employees… I would like to thank you for 36 years of great business and memories.
Today, Sunday November 13, 2022, is our last day of operation.
It is a hard and an emotional decision, but we believe is the right time to drop the curtains like a great Italian Opera.
Arrivederci…

This is a hard one to swallow, but I can certainly understand Maurizio’s decision. Primo, Maurizio, Michelle, Afaf, Manal, Rola, Enzo, Andrew and the entire team have been family to me for so many years. I have brought my kids, grand kids, and countless number of friends to this wonderful family eatery. The corner table in the bar was our very special place.

Over the years we had so many parties there. The most special moment was on Veterans Day, November 11, 2016. It was the “Billy Rice Video Release Party.” The sold-out event was one of the best parties of all time. All of the money from ticket sales was donated to the Wounded Warriors Project. Everyone attending had great photo ops with Billy, got to see the debut of his music video, “Back to the USA” and listened to wonderful music by Billy and Al Marnie.

It was our home away from home. We were treated like family. Every Wednesday, we would have our company meeting there and back in the day my partner James, Laura, Shelby and I would enjoy a wonderful meal, a few laughs, a spirit or two and a bunch of hugs.

I could go on and on about this wonderful restaurant, the fabulous staff, and the place you could always go for a great big hug. Every time I walked in to Primo, someone was always there to greet me with “Sande’s Here” and a great big smile.

I certainly understand Maurizio’s decision. I know it wasn’t easy. You don’t just close after 36 years without mulling over the decision for a very long time. I wish my “Primo Family” much love, health, and continued success in your future endeavors. I will cherish the memories for the rest of my life.
Love to you all.
