Jerry Seinfeld Keeps the Laughs Going all Night Long at Sarasota’s Van Wezel

First of all, I have to start out by telling you, the reader of this article, that I am a die-hard Seinfeld fan. Yes, I have seen all the Seinfeld episodes and all the Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee as well as many of Jerry’s stand-up specials and movies. Yes, I belong to Seinfeld Facebook groups and I follow Jerry and his wife Jessica on social media. Yes, I am biased when it comes to Seinfeld. Maybe because I love New York and Jerry IS New York! I spent years staying home on Thursday nights in the 90’s to watch “my show”! You will not get a negative review here. I even own Jerry’s SeinLanguage book that was a New York Times best seller back in 1993. I brought the book along hoping I could try to get it signed after the show. Yes, a total Seinfeld nerd.

Rick Springfield Opens Florida Tour at Van Wezel Performing Arts Center in Sarasota

Musician, soap star, movie star and author Rick Springfield brought his show to the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall on Thursday night. He is touring with the new record “The Snake King”, which was released in January. A bluesy rock hard edged record making some political statements is not what you expect from one of 80’s pop/rock favorites. Long before Justin Bieber, Springfield was a Teen Idol in his native Australia in the 70’s. He came to America and found musical success and then television success on the popular daytime drama General Hospital. In the 80’s, Dr. Noah Drake and Rick Springfield were almost one in the same. Rick left the show and devoted himself primarily to his first love music.

Jackson Browne – Running On Music at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Center

Jackson Browne, master songwriter, storyteller and activist played Van Wezel Performing Arts Center for the first time to a sold-out crowd and the Sarasota Police were in attendance in the show’s pit. Browne was on the last two shows of his solo tour when there was a threat made against his show on Tuesday night in Orlando. Security in both Orlando and SRQ were beefed up. The musician started the show off by thanking the Sarasota Police for keeping things safe.

Stellar Performance from a Music Icon At The Van Wezel – Smokey Robinson

Playing to a sold out crowd at the Van Wezel in Sarasota on Thursday night, Smokey Robinson was late to the stage. The crowd was getting restless and no one quite knew what was going on. Rumor had it that there was a wardrobe malfunction going on in Smokey’s dressing room. But when Smokey walked out in an impeccable white suit with a periwinkle hanky in his pocket, the crowd went wild.
