Chef Paul Mattison recently visited the campus of Manatee Technical College to share his culinary knowledge and skills with the students in the college’s culinary program. The program curriculum for that week was focused on beef and game. This was a perfect fit for Chef Paul primarily because of his knowledge and support of the subject.

Just the other day, I came across an envelope that was stuffed full of old concert tickets. Now faded and some tattered, we had at one time proudly displayed these tickets in a huge frame, likely on a wall next to a Pac Man in one of Todd’s game rooms.

Joyland Country Music Night Club has reopened at it’s Bradenton, FL location at 5520 14th Street, just north of the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport. Joyland has been home to country music fans for decades, boasting the area’s largest dance floor, live country music every weekend and occasional concerts by rising national superstar country music artists.

Paul Mattison, owner and chef of the Mattison’s group of restaurants in Sarasota and Bradenton, Florida, was approached by the Knob Creek distillery with an intriguing proposition. The folks at Knob Creek knew that the clientele that frequent the Mattison’s restaurants are bourbon lovers, so it seemed a natural fit to create a bourbon specifically for the restaurant group.

The music scene in Sarasota and the Tampa Bay surrounding areas in 2018 was full of great shows both local and national. We are fortunate to have a mixture of venues to experience live music within a couple of hours drive from stadiums and arenas in Tampa & Orlando to some of the best theaters in Clearwater, St. Pete, Sarasota and south to Ft. Myers. Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium (Home of the Tampa Bay Rays) hosted both the Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran shows. Sheeran’s tour, being the largest selling tour of the year according to Billboard, with Swift coming in a close 2nd.
