Despicable Words Spoken By Our President

| Sande Caplin |

The events of the past several days have been absolutely devastating.  The massacre in Australia on the first day of Hanukkah, the shootings at Brown University and the murders of Rob Reiner and his wife are horrifying.  The leader of the greatest nation in the world spoke venomous comments about the Reiner’s with words that broke my heart.  This man is a despicable human being.  My friend, Gail Palmer Roberts posted on Facebook.  Please read her words carefully.  If you don’t watch the news, below Gail’s comments are some of the awful words that came out of our President’s mouth.  I don’t know how to heal from this.  To our readers of The Suncoast Post, please pray for our country and the victims of the violence.

From Gail Palmer Roberts-
Words are very powerful tools, they can fill your heart with enormous joy, and they can cut your heart into tiny pieces! The words spoken and those NOT spoken about the multiple tragedies yesterday hurt me in a way that I have never experienced before and I have been through some horrible stuff in my life. The inhumanity and lack of compassion overwhelmed me, my heart hurts and the tears keep coming. We cannot continue to accept that this is the world we must live in, I know we are better than this. Please look inside yourselves and ask that whoever or whatever you have faith in can guide you to help heal this shattered existence! PEACE, my friends!

Here’s what Donald Trump said about Rob Reiner after the news of the filmmaker’s death—comments that have dominated headlines and drawn widespread criticism:

• Mocking and politicizing his death: Rather than offering condolences after the tragic deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife, Trump posted on social media (Truth Social/X) suggesting their deaths were “reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind-crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.” The Guardian

• Accusing Reiner of obsession: Trump wrote that Reiner was known to have “driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump” and implied his criticism of Trump was a harmful force. Al Jazeera

• Calling him “deranged” and “very bad for our country”: When pressed by reporters, Trump said he wasn’t a fan of Reiner at all, described him as “a deranged person,” and said Reiner was “very bad for our country.” PBS Reaction & Backlash

 • Bipartisan condemnation: Trump’s comments sparked backlash from both Democrats and Republicans, with some politicians calling the remarks insensitive and inappropriate given the circumstances. Reuters

• Even some GOP figures criticized Trump, saying a personal tragedy shouldn’t be turned into a political attack. Kentucky Lantern Context Reiner was a long-time outspoken critic of Trump’s politics and policies. His death—investigated as a homicide with his son arrested in connection—prompted this unusual political statement from the former president instead of traditional condolence remarks. people.com Here’s a direct quote from Donald Trump’s Truth Social post about Rob Reiner after the director and his wife were tragically found dead — a post that has drawn widespread backlash: “A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind-crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS. He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump…” KVII In other words, instead of offering condolences, Trump attributed the deaths to what he called Trump Derangement Syndrome — a phrase he uses to describe critics of him — and suggested Reiner’s criticism of Trump fueled anger that contributed to the tragedy. This statement sparked sharp criticism from both political parties as being insensitive and inappropriate given the circumstances. www.reuters.com
