We Lost A Great Sarasota-Bradenton Friend & Musician. Rest in Peace, “Big T,” Tim Calandra

Tim Calandra was one of the nicest guys you would ever meet. Always a big smile on his face! I got to know Tim through the Sarasota Film Society where he was the Community Outreach & Public Relations Director.

Tim and his band, “Big T and the Tornadoes”, were regulars at Mattison’s City Grille on Main Street in Sarasota. We would love to go and listen to his band perform.

Every so often, Tim would send me a text or give me a call complaining about our New York sports teams. Tim, a fellow New Yorker, was a die-hard NY Mets fan and also loved the NY Jets and New York Islanders. I remember one time when the Mets were on a bad losing streak. He texted me and said “Sande, I think it’s time I become the Mets manager! I can do a better job.”

In 2016, Tim started a new band, “Busta Groove”. He asked me if my company would build a website for the band. It was one of the most fun times that I ever had. We did a photo shoot on the side of the building at the Gator Club. We had so many laughs. It was a great website.

If you knew Tim, you know what a great person he was. This virus has now hit right in our hometown. Please everyone, stay home and make good choices. To my musician friends, your shows that you do from your living room are wonderful. Please keep doing it….. but again, stay home.

Our condolences to his family and his fiancée, Roseann Thompson-Falcone.

Love to all of you and be safe.
