KAABOO FESTIVAL AMAZES IN SAN DIEGO, Vicky Sullivan Attended!
KAABOO is a music and arts festival in it’s 2nd year in San Diego! The Del Mar Racetrack and Fairgrounds hosted the KAABOO crowd. For the size of this festival, it is a perfect venue. Unsure of the numbers, Saturday’s party had to have been 50,000- 100,000. Traffic driving from LA stretched down the 5 for miles. The lineup of artists like Flo Rida, Goo Goo Dolls, Third Eye Blind, The Struts, Lenny Kravitz and Aerosmith made it a sold out day!
There was 3 main music stages spread out around the western United States 2nd largest horseracing track! The was a Rock and Chef cookoff on the Palate stage with celebrity chefs. The Humor me stage saw such comic greats like Dana Carvey, Sarah Silverman and Cheech & Chong. KAABOO offers entertainment for everyone.
Food is in abundance and not the usual fair food. A healthy southern California menu as well as tacos, steak, salads and everything in-between. Freebies were generously handed out like Skinny Popcorn and Sparkling Ice drinks. Ice cream, gelatos and frozen drinks. Alcohol was served and a wristband was required for service.
Of course, the music is what everyone came for and they got it! Lenny Kravitz was his great spiritual rockin’ self with his great band of musicians. Hits like “Let Love Rule” and “Are you Gonna Go My Way” were crowd pleasers. “American Woman” had the whole place singing, they could hear it in San Diego!
The Bad Boys from Boston were back in fine form! In their only US appearance this year, they were relaxed and smiling. Tyler and Perry laughing and the usual banter between the Toxic Twins. Brad, Tom ad Joey were all workin’ it. No band has such a signature sound as Aerosmith and it was music to the ear of the massive crowd and the Blue Army in attendance.
All in all, a great festival for the diehard music fan, concert goer and foodie! Next year will only get bigger and better!
