Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall Hosts “Virtual Happy Hour” with Kettle of Fish Band

Since all venues have been closed for the past two months with shows cancelled, there has been a scramble to come up with new ways to bring the arts to the masses. On the Suncoast, Van Wezel has come up with a way to entertain with a Facebook Live streaming show, “Virtual Happy Hour”!
This week on Friday, May 22nd, to kick off the 2020 Memorial Day weekend, local band favorite “Kettle of Fish” will bring its jam band style of originals and covers of artists like Tom Petty and Jimi Hendrix to the stream. You can be in the comfort of your home or wherever you and your device might be to watch. It is similar to the hugely popular outdoor FridayFest that Van Wezel puts on in the summer, which no doubt will be back when the time is right!
There will be recipes for some delicious nosh for the foodies with Boar’s Head Chef Greg Ische. One recipe is “Boar’s Head Chicken Panini Sliders”- Yummy. Christian Hershman from the popular Overton restaurant is serving up some creative cocktails for you to try at home. If you want to try his “Blackberry Bramble”, be sure and have blackberries, gin and Crème de Mure on hand for a fruity drink.
Popular band “Kettle of Fish” will provide the live music. The Fish in the Kettle for this show is Robin Swenson on keys & vocals; Rob McDowell on bass & vocals; Pat McDonald banging on the drums; Brian Byrd is on pedal steel; Thorsen Moore brings it on guitar and vocals. Lead singer and on guitar is Dana Lawrence, who has kept the Kettle brewing for years around the Suncoast area.
