New York City’s gypsy jazz band, The Bailsmen, play hot jazz and gypsy swing that draws from the inspiration of Django Reinhardt’s driving rhythm and the excitement of prohibition-era luminaries Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, and Sidney Bechet. This vibrant collection of young Brooklyn musicians has charmed crowds from Boston to New Orleans.
The Bailsmen will be performing at Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center on Thursday, February 27th at 7pm. Doors open at 6pm. Tickets are $15 for members, $18 for the general public. Student tickets are half-price and kids under 12 are free. Advance tickets are available online at wslr.org or by calling 1-800-838-3006.
Born on the rooftops of Brooklyn in the summer of 2011, The Bailsmen began packing dance floors with high-energy, vintage swing music. With a mix of French bistro, New Orleans dance party, and New York City sophistication, these seasoned, hard-hitting pickers perform regularly in New York City and have performed at a number of venues all along the East Coast, as well as appearing at events for Vanity Fair and Fashion Week.
