Phoebe Hunt and the Gatherers to Play Fogartyville in Sarasota, FL
Named one of the ‘Top 10 New Country Artists you Need to Know’ by Rolling Stone Country in 2017, Phoebe Hunt continues to impress. An accomplished Americana instrumentalist with foundations in jazz and swing music, Phoebe is skilled at taking seemingly disparate elements and pulling them together in a dazzling kaleidoscope of lush, coherent sound and rhythm patterns.
The result is music that swells, crashes, and breathes organically under Phoebe’s soulful, plaintive voice. Join this sensational Americana fiddler for an evening of impressive musicianship, powerful lyrics, danceable rhythms and cross-cultural musical exploration on Thursday, May 2 at the Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Advance tickets are available at wslr.org .
Those who have followed the fiddler/vocalist, once a member of the wonderfully eclectic The Belleville Outfit, know she is no stranger to coloring outside of genres. Shanti’s Shadow, released in 2017 on Popped Corn Records, was the culmination of a five-year journey that took Hunt from from her Austin roots through Music Row, Brooklyn and even to India to study with seventh-generation master violinist Kala Ramnath. Along the way, Phoebe found her voice and delivered her most inspired set of songs to date — the soundtrack to her self-discovery.
