Oh, What a Night….The Cortez Kitchen Was Rockin’ with Kettle of Fish

| Sande Caplin |

It was an epic evening at The Cortez Kitchen in Cortez, Florida.  Kettle of Fish made a long-awaited appearance.  Their performance was fabulous. They hadn’t played at the Kitchen in almost six years.

I had a feeling that it was going to be a special evening.  The Suncoast Post story announcing the event drew huge traffic and inquiries.  The place was packed.  It looked like the entire village came out.  A vast array of great food kept coming out of the kitchen, everyone enjoyed a drink or two and the dancers kept the party going.

I had a minute to chat with my friend and Band Leader, Dana Lawrence.  He said that “he and the band were just so excited to be back at the Kitchen.  With everything that happened over the last several years, scheduling just did not work out.”  He thanked the Suncoast Post for getting the word out. We talked about playing in Cortez again and Dana’s response was “you never know!”

Last night reminded me of the old days at the Kitchen.  You could feel the buzz .  Everyone was catching up with their friends, some they hadn’t seen in quite some time.  I noticed quite a few hugs, tears, and smiles.  It was just so wonderful.

Thanks to the entire team at the Cortez Kitchen for putting on such a wonderful evening.  You folks did a fabulous job with a packed house and did it with professionalism and a smile.
