Live Tango Ensemble at Fogartyville in Sarasota on January 5
Founded in 2013, Payadora has quickly become one of Toronto’s most vibrant and sought-after acts. Payadora performs an expansive repertoire of original compositions and their own arrangements of Argentinean Folk Music and Tango.
Their broad scope in tango draws from the height of Buenos Aires’ Tango tradition, including compositions by De Caro, Pugliese, Troilo, and Salgan, to the masterful, contemporary sounds of Astor Piazzolla and beyond. Drawing from eclectic backgrounds in Classical, Jazz, Latin, Eastern European folk music, and improvisation, Payadora’s performances exude technical virtuosity, playful spontaneity, and rhythmic vitality.
Bring your dancing shoes as Payadora performs at the Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center on Sunday, January 5 at 7pm. Tickets are $18 for members and $20 for the general public. Tickets are available at wslr.org or by calling 1-800-838-3006. Food will be available for purchase from Chef Richard’s Kumquat Kitchen.
Payadora Tango Ensemble consists of Rebekah Wolkstein (violin, vox), Branko Dzinovic (accordion), Robert Horvath (piano) and Joe Phillips (double bass). Each musician is a star soloist in their own right and playing together has allowed them to develop and mature. They have made a memorable mark on the Canadian music scene with their accomplished ensemble playing and toe tapping energetic versions of the Argentinian tango, the form the world loves to listen, play and dance to.
