Kevin So Returns to Sarasota with Pedal Steel Great Buck Reid

Kevin So is one of the most exciting and powerful singers and songwriters to emerge from the Boston music scene. Making a name for himself as a boundary-stretching singer and songwriter, So’s original blend of pop, rhythm and blues, and hip hop has garnered the attention and praise from Billy Bragg, Martin Sexton, Mary Lou Lord, Richie Havens, David Wilcox, and Keb Mo. Kevin So will perform in benefit for WSLR Community Radio on Friday, May 15 at 8pm at the Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center. The day after September 11th, Kevin connected with Grammy-award winning bluesman Keb’ Mo’ and co-wrote “Talk,” which Keb’ would eventually record. So’s double-disc Leaving The Lights On appeared to an avalanche of praise in 2003. Soon after, he moved to New York in 2003.

With 2 other full length CDs under his belt, The So Must Go On (2005) and A Brighter Day (2007), So continued to tour the country at a vigorous clip. In August ’07, Kevin was recipient of the New York Fringe Festival Award (Best Music & Lyrics) for “Great Wall” – a musical based on his life and times.

So moved to Nashville in 2009. Kevin would soon after reconnect with folk music producer Steve Rapson and release two widely acclaimed solo acoustic efforts Best Foot Forward (2009) and LiFe Solo AKouStic (2010), going back to his folk/blues roots and performing over 200 shows around the world. His YouTube featured “AKouStic Journey” began on October 10, 2010 (“10/10/10”) and concluded on April 16, 2011 on the nationally syndicated radio show “Folkstage” hosted by renown DJ Rich Warren.

WSLR RadioIn August 2011, Kevin was hired as multi-instrumentalist in the KEB’ MO’ BAND and toured with them throughout 2011 and 2012.   So’s latest release – an Americana/Country/Pop album, “COUNTRYSIDE”, is supported by concert dates throughout 2015.

Kevin So is blues, folk & soul in its finest blend.  Fans all over the world have caught on to So’s lyrical truths and his knack for engaging people through his music, intense storytelling, and foot stomping performances.
