Pop princess Katy Perry brought her Witness tour to Tampa’s Amalie Arena on Friday night! Along with her band and dancers she brought a fun collection of over-sized stage props to enhance and entertain her setlist of pop tunes. The audience mix consisted of girls, girls and more girls in-between everyone else. Perry knows who her audience is and plays to it.
She orbited across the galaxy complete with planets high above the crowd on acoustic guitar to land on a stage to wish on a star with two adorable sisters 4 and 7 who were brought to her from across the arena. More audience interaction included a Brandon dad who came up to take on Perry’s challenge of a game of giant basketball and beat her! Giant lips, huge TV sets and enormous lions take center stage with Perry.
Picking up a giant old school phone she called her mom on the eve of her 70th birthday to have the fans sing “Happy Birthday” and her mom give a shout out to Tampa for being the lightning capital of Florida. Letting this audience of teens know that family is important in her life and telling them to keep family close.
From her 1st hit “I Kissed a Girl” to her anthem “Roar”, along with new music, the Katycats knew every word. There were several songs that included confetti raining down to the encore of “Firework” which transported Katy up to the fans on a giant hand along with what else, fireworks! A fun, feel good show for everyone!
