Grammy Award Winner Mike Block Performs with Christylez Bacon and Patricia Ligia
Cellist, singer, composer, and cross-cultural collaborative musician, Mike Block, has been developing his impressive discography and collaborative repertoire since 2006. A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music and The Juilliard School, Block has extensive training and experience performing and composing. Block will be coming to Fogartyville on Saturday, March 25th at 8 p.m., joined by Christylez Bacon. Patricia Ligia will perform as the opening act. Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets are $25 for members, $28 for nonmembers, and $14 for students. Advance tickets are available at Fogartyville.
Acclaimed by the New York Times for his “vital rich-hued solo playing,” Mike Block’s abilities as a talented cellist and composer earned him a 2017 Grammy award for the album Sing Me Home, released by Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble, which Block is a long-time member of. With nearly 20 albums released under his name that regularly chart near the top of multiple Billboard categories, Block’s original material has been widely acclaimed by media sources. Passionate about community and cross-cultural collaboration in music, Block has performed alongside and recorded with the likes of Stevie Wonder, The Eagles, Will.i.am, The New York Philharmonic, Bobby McFerrin, and many others.
Christylez Bacon is a Grammy nominated progressive hip-hop artist and multi-instrumentalist who has been promoting cross-cultural collaborative efforts through his concert series “Washington Sound Museum” since 2011. His performances push the initiatives of cultural acceptance and unification through music.
Patricia Ligia is a talented bassist and composer from Uruguay. Ligia recently graduated from Berklee College of Music as a Jazz Composition major, and she specializes in the fusion of flamenco, jazz, and various Latin American and Caribbean folk genres.
