Free Irish Session Hosted by Fogartyville

| Suncoast Post Staff |

Fogartyville will be transformed into a village public house when it hosts the second in a series of Irish Sessions (Seisiún) on Tuesday, July 16, 5-8 p.m.

The free and informal monthly gatherings are not performances, but a sharing of Irish traditional music.

The format for each evening includes an hour of learning one or more two tunes on solo instruments (fiddle, tin whistle, mandolin, tenor banjo, etc.) followed by the informal playing of music.

Among the world-class Irish traditional musicians scheduled to appear are: Matt Cosgrove (tin whistle), Michael Durning (mandolin), Danny Flynn (button accordion), Jerry Gallagher (fiddle), and Dermot Somerville (flute, guitar, vocals).

Enthusiasts who aren’t musicians are welcome to bring cards or a board game to play while they listen.

The next Irish Session is scheduled for Aug. 20.

Irish Sessions are free. Registration is required.

Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center is located at 525 Kumquat Court. Audiences should enter the performance space from the alleyway.
