Cuban Jazz Pianist Jorge Luis Pacheco to Play Fogartyville in Sarasota, FL
Cuban sensation Jorge Luis Pacheco is a young man of many talents as a pianist, percussionist, composer and musical director.
In 2007, Pacheco won first prize at the International Competition of Young jazz musicians and was the only pianist to be invited to perform with Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Orchestra on their closing night at Havana’s Teatro Mella. Pacheco composes works for solo piano, string orchestras as well as percussion and piano concerto for piano as well as symphony orchestras and he has shared the stage with the likes of Bobby Carcasess, Javier Zalba and Orlando Sanche among others. His recent album, “Pacheco’s Blue,” was produced by multi- Grammy Award winner Chucho Valdes. The Jorge Luis Pacheco Trio will play the Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center on Friday, March 13 at 8pm.Tickets are $20 for members and $25 for the general public. Pacheco is a virtuoso pianist, composer, arranger, percussionist and singer. Monty Alexander exclaimed that he “defies genre” often playing Cuban jazz, traditional Cuban music, original Film scores, and a new Symphony for Jazz Quartet and Symphony Orquestra that he composed, which is inspired by the music of South America and Afro Cuban Music. Pacheco is the winner of the “Audience Award” and the “Second Jury Award “at the International Jazz Piano Competition Montreux Switzerland in July 2014. In 2017 Pacheco won the best solo and performance award in the jazz contest “Made in New York” in New York City with one of his compositions.
