Cottonmouth Southern Soul Kitchen Moves to Flamingo Bay Brewing Company in Bradenton
One of Bradenton’s best-known destinations for Southern cooking and live music is beginning a new chapter.
Cottonmouth Southern Soul Kitchen has relocated from its longtime home in Bradenton’s Village of the Arts to Flamingo Bay Brewing Company, creating a new dining, craft beer and entertainment destination at 1910 14th Street West.
The partnership combines Cottonmouth owner and chef Dave Shiplett’s Southern-inspired menu and established live-music program with Flamingo Bay’s taproom, handcrafted beers and spacious outdoor beer garden.
Cottonmouth’s official website now lists the Flamingo Bay address as its new home and says the restaurant moved there in July 2026.
A Larger Home for Cottonmouth’s Food and Music
Cottonmouth built a loyal following at its former location at 1114 12th Street West, where guests gathered inside a colorful Village of the Arts cottage for fried chicken, pork chops, seafood, changing specials and intimate concerts.
The restaurant became more than a place to eat. It developed into a gathering spot where food, music and local art were presented as parts of the same experience.
The move to Flamingo Bay gives Shiplett and his team additional indoor and outdoor space while keeping Cottonmouth close to the neighborhood where it established its identity.
Flamingo Bay Brewing Company is located approximately one mile from Cottonmouth’s former Village of the Arts location, just off Tamiami Trail.
“I’m excited to continue that tradition at Flamingo Bay Brewing Company,” Shiplett said in the relocation announcement.
Southern Food Meets Bradenton Craft Beer
The partnership offers a natural pairing for customers who enjoy locally prepared food, craft beer and live entertainment.
Flamingo Bay describes itself as a family-friendly brewery with an indoor taproom and a large, dog-friendly beer garden. The brewery regularly presents live music, open-mic nights, weekly specials and community events.
Cottonmouth will add a permanent food component to the venue, replacing the need to depend entirely on rotating food trucks during the restaurant’s operating hours.
Guests can expect Cottonmouth’s creative approach to Southern comfort food rather than a rigid, never-changing menu. Shiplett has become known for putting his own spin on familiar dishes, with selections and specials that may change according to availability and the occasion.
The combination could also make the property more versatile. Customers may stop in for dinner, attend a concert, enjoy a locally brewed beer or spend an afternoon in the outdoor garden without traveling between separate venues.
Live Music Will Remain Central to Cottonmouth
Live music has always been one of Cottonmouth’s defining features, and the partnership is expected to continue that tradition. The restaurant was also highlighted among Bradenton venues in the Suncoast Post’s look at the 2024 live music lineup across the Florida Suncoast and Tampa Bay.
The restaurant has hosted blues, roots, Americana, rock and singer-songwriter performances, including appearances by respected touring musicians as well as artists from Southwest Florida.
Flamingo Bay already maintains an active entertainment schedule, making the brewery a logical home for Cottonmouth’s music program. Its larger outdoor setting may also allow the businesses to accommodate performances and audiences that would have been difficult to host inside Cottonmouth’s former cottage.

Village of the Arts Connections Will Continue
Although Cottonmouth has left its original cottage, the restaurant says it intends to maintain its connection to Bradenton’s arts community.
Cottonmouth’s website states that artwork created by Village of the Arts artists will continue to be displayed and offered for sale at the new location. That commitment allows the restaurant to preserve an important part of its identity while introducing local artists to visitors at the brewery.
The Village of the Arts is a live-work arts district located south of downtown Bradenton. Its colorful cottages are home to galleries, studios, restaurants and small businesses, many of which participate in recurring events like the area’s Bradenton art walks.
