Celtic-American Roots Music “Super Group” RUNA Coming to Fogartyville in Sarasota, FL
Interweaving the haunting melodies and exuberant tunes of Ireland and Scotland with the lush harmonies and intoxicating rhythms of jazz, bluegrass, flamenco and blues, RUNA offers a thrilling and redefining take on traditional music.
Celebrating its 10-Year Anniversary as a band, RUNA continues to push the boundaries of Irish folk music into the Americana and roots music formats. RUNA will be performing at Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center on Sunday, February 9th at 7pm. Doors open at 6pm. Tickets are $15 for members and $20 for the general public. Advance tickets are available online at wslr.org or by calling 1-800-838-3006.
RUNA consists of vocalist and step-dancer, Shannon Lambert-Ryan of Philadelphia, Dublin-born guitarist, Fionan de Barra, Cheryl Prashker of Canada on percussion, two-time All-Ireland fiddle champion Jake James of New York on the fiddle, and Caleb Edwards of Nashville on mandolin and vocals. The group has been honored internationally, winning Top Group and Top Traditional Group in the Irish Music Awards and three Independent Music Awards including Best LIVE Album, Best World/Traditional Song and Best Bluegrass Song.
Described by London Celtic Punks as “one of the best and inventive folk bands of this modern era,” RUNA recently released their sixth album, TEN: The Errant Night, meant to reflect and commemorate the wonderfully joyful journey of being together for more than a decade.
