Blue-Eyed Bettys Hold CD Release Party at Fogartyville
Friday, December 12, 8pm
With Daniel Emond on banjo, Sarah Hund on fiddle, Ben Mackel on guitar and Jamie Mohamdein on upright bass, The Blue Eyed Bettys delight with their folky-bluegrass sound. But what always seems to grab audiences immediately are their powerful vocals in three part harmony. After moving last December from New York City to Sarasota for a Florida Studio Theatre cabaret production, the original three band members met and quickly became friends as they rehearsed together and learned the music. Soon, their friendship evolved into jam sessions in their free time, and the three explored their love of traditional Americana and folk storytelling with a distinct touch of theatrical flair and stage presence. Borrowing their namesake from their shared sets of baby blues, Daniel Emond, Sarah Hund and Ben Mackel began writing original songs and testing out the Sarasota open-mic scene — much to audiences’ delight. More recently they added fellow Florida Studio Theatre actor Jamie Mohamdein on upright bass, which has further rounded out their sound.
Raising money through Kickstarter, the Blue-Eyed Bettys funded their first professionally recorded CD. They will share their music with the community and release the new CD at the Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center on Friday, December 12 at 8pm. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 on the day of the show.
