Banjo Virtuoso Tray Wellington Band to Perform at Fogartyville in Sarasota

The Tray Wellington Band, led by acclaimed banjo player Tray Wellington, is set to perform at Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center in Sarasota on Sunday, January 19, at 7 p.m. Wellington, a recipient of the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Momentum Instrumentalist of the Year award and the Steve Martin Banjo Prize, is renowned for his innovative approach to the five-string banjo, seamlessly blending bluegrass with elements of jazz, swing, bebop, hip-hop, and rock.

The band’s performances feature a mix of original compositions and inventive covers, such as their rendition of Kid Cudi’s “Pursuit of Happiness.” Their music is characterized by cerebral and intentional acoustic instrumentals that remain accessible to a wide audience. In addition to bluegrass, Americana, and country influences, the Tray Wellington Band incorporates Bossa Nova, jazz, and blues elements into their sound, creating a unique and exciting musical experience.

Tickets for the event are priced at $20 for WSLR+Fogartyville members, $24 for non-members, and $13 for students aged 13 and above.
