Aztec Two Step to Play at PEACenter Benefit
Rex Fowler and Neal Shulman have spent a lifetime of making exemplary music together as the folk/rock duo, Aztec Two-Step. The pair met the open stage of a Boston coffee house, worked together for a few months to produce their
debut album taken from the name from a poem by beat poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti, and within a few months of its release, they had a deal with Elektra Records. Today, they’ve worked four plus decades as staples of progressive FM radio, with major record deals and non-stop touring, Rex and Neal continue to impress audiences with intelligent songwriting, dazzling acoustic lead guitar and soaring two-part harmonies.
The duo received the New York Music Award for Best Folk Album for their 6th of 16 albums released. They have performed worldwide, been critically acclaimed in major U.S. newspapers, reviewed in Rolling Stone Magazine and appeared on numerous radio and TV shows, including The King Biscuit Flower Hour, World Cafe Live and David Letterman. Come out to Fogartyville to see this exceptional duo perform on Friday, February 19th at 8pm. Tickets are $22 in advance and $25 at the door.

“Rock music has its success stories, such as the Rolling Stones and the writing partnership of Elton John and Bernie Taupin. In folk music there is Aztec Two-Step.”
Sarah Cornelius / CtFolk
“…there was Aztec Two-Step, performing with an unrefined sweetness and verve that was folk-rock, pure and simple…Here was music that was honest, that spoke from the heart and soul without guilt or guile, that sang of hope, love and peace without any trace of irony. It was music that had its priorities straight.”
